New York and flight home

Thursday it was raining again so we decided we would spend the day visiting the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
Fist we do some shopping

Only a short view on 7 blocks on Fifth Avenue but I had never seen such imposing buildings before.
We then walked down 42nd Street to Times Square where I bought some souvenirs.
Since I had never had Cuban food, Michael & Vicki suggested we have dinner at "Havana Central", a Cuban restaurant.
The restaurant had live music and very delicious food which we all enjoyed.

Great view from Weehawken, NJ of the New York Skyline after dark.

The next day we drove into New York City via the George Washington Bridge.
We went to the "Top of The Rock", the observation deck at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan.
It offers fantastic views of New York including the Empire State Building.

Then we took the Subway to lower Manhattan and walked from "Ground Zero" to the South Street Seaport.
There we boarded a boat for a sightseeing cruise around New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.

After the cruise we walked up to Canal Street and "Chinatown" and did some more shopping.

Then it was on to "Little Italy" for dinner.
We ate dinner outside at a restaurant called "S.P.Q.R.".
I loved sitting outside, eating, drinking and watching the people walking up & down Mulberry Street.
I don't understand why Americans sit inside an air conditioned restaurant instead of outside where they can watch "life" going by.

Saturday was my last day in America. I was a little nervous. Wish to be at home...
We started the day with an early ride to Liberty State Park so we could get some photos of the bikes with the Statue of Liberty and the NY skyline in the background.

Then it was time to go to Bergen Kawasaki, the local Kawasaki Dealer, to return the bike.
Oh yeah, the C14 was not a gift, only a loan. I was a little bit sad when the Service Manager rolled it into his garage.
It was a good bike, perhaps a “friend” for about 5171,77 miles.
After this it was time to finish packing so Mike could drive me to J.F.K. International airport.

My time in America was running out and...TRAFFIC JAM! I was very concerned we would not make it in time for my flight. What would I do?
We managed to reach the airport five minutes before the end of check-in for my flight. A hostess from Air France guided me through the terminal to my departure gate and I made it to the plane just as they were ready to shut the door and take off.

It was the same in Paris. My flight from New York was delayed half an hour and I was very late to reach my plane to Hannover. It was the same in Paris. My flight from New York was delayed half an hour and I was very late to reach my plane to Hanover. Air France helped me again. One guy put me on the transfer bus to the other terminal and another helped me at the terminal and passport check. The planes engines started just as I reached my seat.

Not enough, in Hannover at the luggage reclaim a man said: “You don't have to wait, your luggage will not come. Please go to the 'Lost and found terminal' ".
Oh, what an exciting way to come home!

But I was happy to see there waited my family, ready to take me home. We spent that whole day talking over my trip of a lifetime.
In the evening a courier brought my luggage and my trip had finally ended.
